FALCONSTOR SOFTWARE PARTNERS WITH SYSTEM BUILDER
JMR ELECTRONICS
JMR Electronics to Offer FalconStor's iSCSI Storage Server for Windows
as Part of Its Patented PCI Storage Appliances (PSAN) Product Line
CHATSWORTH, New York - April 5, 2006 — FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), the leading developer of proven data protection solutions, announced today that it has entered into an OEM agreement with JMR Electronics, a premier global supplier of storage systems. JMR Electronics will produce storage arrays that integrate FalconStor's iSCSI Storage Server for Windows product suite with JMR Electronics' new PCI-based SATA RAID storage enclosure technologies, which will support up to 2,000 drives.
"Rather than serving as a traditional reseller that simply offers FalconStor's solutions, under this agreement JMR Electronics will fulfill its traditional role as a system builder," said Bernie Wu, vice president of business development, FalconStor Software. "As such, JMR will sell complete storage appliances powered by FalconStor."
FalconStor's iSCSI Storage Server for Windows is the first easy-to-use Windows Server solution to deliver seamlessly integrated network storage services and intelligent storage management to ensure that critical databases and messaging systems are easily managed, reliably protected, and highly available. Its advanced storage pooling functionality aggregates disk capacity and provisions it via iSCSI to application hosts, including Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and Oracle, without downtime. The FalconStor iSCSI Storage Server for Windows solution also offers a unique Snapshot Service that provides point-in-time recovery points; safeguards against soft errors such as accidental deletions, file corruptions, and virus attacks; and ensures transactional integrity. An advanced delta Replication Service reliably replicates an application hosts' mission-critical data from a primary site to a disaster recovery site over IP, while Snapshot Agents ensure database integrity and facilitate rapid recovery by eliminating the time needed to check or rebuild an application's database. The Replication Service maintains consistent point-in-time copies of database or message system data to ensure immediate, granular recovery from primary disk and site failures, and continuous business operations in case of disaster.
JMR Electronics chose to partner with FalconStor to support JMR's business objective of offering scalable, high-capacity, high-performance, and high-functionality storage arrays at a competitive price. Utilizing FalconStor's iSCSI Storage Server for Windows will enable JMR Electronics to meet its goal of creating very large storage arrays that can start small but will easily scale to hundreds of terabytes.
"We have been looking at putting together a line of storage arrays that support both Fibre Channel and iSCSI and that can scale at prices under $1,500 a terabyte," said Josef Rabinovitz, president, JMR Electronics. "What we found is that we had to go to many different providers to meet all our different requirements and price points. FalconStor was unique in providing a complete and scalable suite of storage services across both NAS and iSCSI — virtualization, CDP, snapshot, mirroring, and an iSCSI target as well as a caching performance engine, among others. Bottom line: that was the compelling reason we turned to FalconStor."
For the market at large, the JMR-FalconStor partnership is a prime example of how a system builder can put together inexpensive iSCSI or NAS disk storage servers based on commodity components, and utilize FalconStor's solutions to add functionality and flexibility. The significance of this partnership for FalconStor's traditional resellers is that they can now buy a complete storage appliance from JMR that includes FalconStor technology. "Our partnership with JMR will benefit our channel partners by giving them the option of buying prebuilt storage systems in which FalconStor technology is built into the PSAN storage appliance, rather than having to build and integrate these systems by putting the parts together themselves," explained Wu.
