Thirty Years in Storage Technologies with JMR Electronics

Headquartered in Chatsworth, California, JMR has been a leading value provider of scalable storage systems for performance and capacity driven applications in the government, DCC, VOD, video surveillance and web 2.0 markets for nearly thirty years. JMR's combined focus in data storage systems with their ability to visualize and manufacture from concept to final product have set them apart as industry leaders since the company's inception in 1982.

In the early 1980's, Josef Rabinovitz, President and CEO, began designing cases for SCSI based peripherals for the first home computers--from the early Apple Macintosh Desktop computers to the Tandy TRS-80. First-to-market personal computers contained only small capacity internal disk drives that desperately needed more available disk storage. JMR was able to create external peripherals that enhanced the users experience, including floppy drives, memory and tape drives.

JMR quickly progressed from manufacturing electronic enclosures to producing and selling integrated boxes complete with drives and software. The company's first line of storage solutions, the SATA based ORCATM and Fortra® lines were the first 4U and 3U systems that had the ability to offer 21TB and 8TB of storage, respectively. JMR's progressive product development roadmap gave them the capability to deliver turnkey, interoperable Serial ATA storage solutions that focused on primary, secondary, disk-to-disk back-up, disaster recovery and archival storage.

JMR's products are used around the world in many industrial and commercial applications including the video, digital content creation, medical, educational, security, environmental research and surveillance fields. Using modern CAD development tools for schematic drafting, printed circuit board layout, mechanical design and thermal analysis, JMR's products are designed and manufactured entirely in the Chatsworth, California factory.

JMR also participates in the military and aerospace Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Program by providing engineering and manufacturing services to Department of Defense contractors. JMR designs highly complex systems that require specialized materials, traceability, handling and testing for distinctive applications.

JMR has been an ISO 9001:2000 registered company since 1995 and the principals hold more than twenty U.S. Patents on technology and product designs. The company's OEM customers include many Fortune 500 corporations. JMR has been featured in the Inc. Magazine's 500 list multiple times and has been awarded the magazines "Entrepreneur of the Year" award.
