JMR has world-renowned experience and is an industry leader in product development for computer peripheral products including data storage arrays and systems and is always open to take on new custom OEM projects.
Using modern CAD development tools for schematic drafting, printed circuit board layout, mechanical design and thermal analysis, JMR designs our own products in house. We have developed an excellent industry compatible SES controller (firmware) for system services management which has been deployed in standard and custom products for several years and create changes as required to tailor to OEM customer needs.
We also have a deeply routed investment in PCI and RAID technologies, much of which can be offered to OEM customers as applicable. JMR or its principals hold several patents in the fields of data storage technologies, PCI technology and packaging technology we can leverage to help our customers meet their time and cost goals.
JMR also manages rapid prototyping for new product development using SLAs and soft tooling as appropriate to help speed customers' projects through DVT to market. In addition, of course we offer customization services to provide a unique look for even our standard products, when quantities justify.
We have created new products for several Fortune 500 companies as well as numerous startups over the years with many success stories along the way and would be pleased to review your requirements under confidentiality agreement.

Printed Circuit Assembly (SMT)
JMR maintains an in-house surface mount assembly line using modern Fuji pick and place equipment.
In an effort to reduce our reliance on outside suppliers and take our vertical integration to the highest level possible, JMR now performs all printed circuit assembly for our standard and custom OEM products in-house. Board-level testing including ICT is performed as an adjunct to the PCA operations, so only tested good product is delivered to our Final Assembly lines.
Cable Assembly
JMR has two full-time, loaded assembly lines dedicated to cable and wire harness assembly and test. Using modern Komax semi-robotic CNC multiple-head applicators as well as a broad range of terminal-specific pneumatic applicators for all popular suppliers of wire terminations, JMR manufactures thousands of cable assemblies daily in a J.I.T. environment.
We manufacture nearly all of our ribbon cable assemblies, including SCSI, in house using a variety of cable types. Our Ultra3 SCSI (Ultra/320 LVD) cable assemblies use twisted-flat differential cables of PVC or TFE dielectric materials and are all 100% tested in-process prior to delivery to Final Assembly. We maintain the ability to 100% shield these cables with aluminum or copper foil, as needed to meet rigid EMC standards.
With a full-time Compliance Engineering staff, JMR is always abreast of UL 1950 and IEC product safety standards which must be applied in both parts selection and manufacturing of subassemblies, with special provisions for primary (AC line power) circuits.
Design Engineering and Document Control
JMR's in-house engineering department is well equipped to provide mechanical and electrical design services, and rapid prototyping and testing, to reduce our customers' time to market.
The department has program management expertise to efficiently work with Fortune 500 OEMs as well as start-ups. Benefiting from full access to all of JMR's vertically-integrated departments, and using a variety of 3d modeling tools including Pro/E, our designers can take parts from CAD screen to CNC production machinery in record time. JMR has produced fully functional prototypes, including custom sheet metal, plastic, cabling, and circuit board assemblies, within one week.
This performance is achieved while strictly adhering to ISO 9001 guidelines, assuring consistent documentation and controls. If required, customers have full design and configuration control over their products at every stage, down to the bill of materials details.
It is important to note that our level of vertical integration, from design to manufacturing, provides the benefits of exceptional Design for Compliance, Design for Manufacturing and Design to Cost controls, as applicable. Department managers from Compliance Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Manufacturing; and Quality Assurance all attend Design Review meetings and have input to the Bill of Operations which will determine how any new product is built. Since all these departments are internal to JMR, such reviews are efficient and expedient, saving our customers time and cost.
Final Assembly and Test
Utilizing flexible final assembly work cells including roller and conveyor lines which can be rearranged as needed for models manufactured, JMR has a modern and highly efficient final assembly area in house.
Kits for assembly are presented to the beginning of each line, inspections and test of finished goods is performed on the line, and packaging occurs at the end of the same line, for the most linear work flow possible. Minimizing steps and handling minimizes the possibility of errors while best controlling cost. Our final assembly operators are trained to be expert in the products they assemble, and most are cross-trained on multiple products, thus maximizing factory efficiency.
OEM products are built to documented work instructions, and all work orders are accompanied by travelers with specific QA check points and signatures or stamps indicating inspection completion. Large-volume products are continuously produced on dedicated lines, while smaller-volume products are batch produced on flexible lines which manufacture multiple products.
Packaging for delivery is part of the design process. Using input from our customer regarding packaging requirements, we take packaging design as seriously as the rest of the product development. The end user's Out Of Box Experience is highly important, and JMR can help you to provide the best "OOBE" possible, with resilient, effective packaging that meets all safe transport requirements.
JMR's Logistics department does final palletizing, creates packing lists and makes all arrangements for daily shipments via dozens of qualified carriers.
Quality Assurance and Inspection
JMR Electronics is an ISO 9001 registered design and manufacturing resource and maintains our registration with biannual audits. As such, rigid processes, as well as continuous training methodology, are in place to govern all facets of our daily operations.
In-process inspection is performed in all production areas. Quality Assurance, not subordinate to manufacturing but reporting directly to the Chief Executive, has the authority to audit processes and product at any time. Mature, stable products are normally inspected to an AQL 1.0 or 2.5 standard, depending upon history and data trends. New products, pilots, or products undergoing recent change by EN are normally inspected 100% until stability is statistically proven. Any item knowingly received or manufactured outside established process must be presented to MRB for decision prior to use, and in the case of OEM products, a Waiver Request is issued to our customer prior to releasing any nonconforming material.
JMR maintains a climate controlled inspection room equipped with modern inspection tools, including a DELTRONIC Optical Comparator with digital readout; MITUTOYO Height Gauge with SPC module; MITUTOYO BRT-M710 CMM; and INFINITY SPC software. First articles of production outputs are put through an inspection process using these and other tools as appropriate. All instruments, gauges and tools are on a recall system for calibration by a certified outside laboratory.
We have the ability to take specific process data as required by OEM contract; please inquire if you have special needs.
